Cell Type Explorer
1 min
the cell type explorer allows you to visualize expression patterns through umaps and violin plots across cell types within the tissue of interest the plots are based on a representative dataset corresponding to the same tissue type as that used for the displayed network, and the data source information can be seen in the lower left corner of the plot area a umap (uniform manifold approximation and projection) is a two dimensional scatter plot that shows the relative similarity between cells based on their expression profile the left panel on the umap tab shows the scaled expression of all graph genes across cells when you select one or more genes in the network, the expression of those genes is highlighted in the plot, showing where the selected genes are mainly expressed in the right panel, clusters are colored by annotated cell type, letting you compare expression patterns across distinct cell populations the violin plot shows the unscaled expression level of selected gene(s) within each cell type by default, the aggregated expression of all graph genes (or selected genes) is shown, unless you select up to five genes from the graph, in which case their individual expression distributions are shown instead if a cell type label is grayed out, no expression of the selected gene(s) was found in that cell type for either plot, you can choose which cell types to include under the select cell types drop down menu read more about the data background to the cell type explorer under umap construction docid\ chhswcmhvimtnogva8cjr
